New Calling

Well...today was the day. I have known know for almost 2 weeks but it wasn't official until today. I've been in Young Women's now for almost a year. I was the Beehive advisor for the last 9 months and then a couple of months ago I was switched over to 1st counselor.

Today I was officially put in though as the new Young Women's President in our ward. It is such a HUGE calling and I am very overwhelmed intimidated and excited at the same time. When the bishop came over to extend the calling and ask for Nathan's support I burst into tears as soon as he asked me. I thought for sure he was coming over to give Nate a new calling....I did NOT see it coming at all! I was so sad when our last YW President told me that she was expecting again.....(that means her babies will be 14 months apart) because I realized that everyone would get released which meant I probably wouldn't be in YW anymore. OBVIOUSLY that isn't what the Lord had in mind. I just love being in there with the girls! I am excited to get everything figured out and moving! Let the craziness of life continue!!!

A little brotherly love

We sure do miss our Dallin while he gone at kindergarten every day. (Although...I must confess that I don't miss all of the FIGHTING while he is gone) Here is his kindergarten picture that we just got back today. He's growing up so darn fast.

And here is a picture of his brothers who LOVE to wait outside on the rocking chairs for the bus everyday to welcome him home! Parker likes to play with Landon while Dallin is gone but he paces around the house waiting for Dallin to get home. It's just not the same when your baby brother breaks all of the train tracks you've been working hard on or he waits until you aren't paying attention to hit you over the head with a transformer.

Firsts

I was getting a little grossed out by the big fly on the previous post so I figured I had better write something so I wouldn't have to look at it anymore.

SO......Happy day of FIRSTS!!!

It's the FIRST day of FALL!

Landon said, "Ball" for the FIRST time today!

It was the FIRST day of Nate's NEW JOB!!

I hate houseflies

Flies love poop. Flies love big poop and little poop and old poop and steamy poop. Flies land on a poop, hang out on poop, wander around poop, meditate on poop, wander around some more on poop, poop on poop, admire the scenery on poop, go to work on poop, come home to poop, take a nap on poop, wake up and say, “Oh boy, poop!” Then they fly over and land on my lip.

Living near an old dairy farm really doesn't bother me until this time of year. We had about 40 uninvited guests come into the house today. It seems like there are zillions of them that just WAIT by the front door until it cracks open and then they all try to dash inside as fast as they can fly. We took a can of RAID to them today so hopefully their numbers have significantly diminished.

Thank heavens for disinfectant.

Happy 6th Birthday Dallin!

It's hard to believe that my Dal Dal is 6 already! 6 years since I became a mom for the first time...its just crazy to me. I mean, I actually REMEMBER things from when I was 6...and now my own son is that age?
Dallin wanted a SPORTS themed party this year. All the kids wore a sports uniforms..including myself. I was rocking the Argentine soccer jersey thanks to my South American missionary husband. I love throwing parties for my kids. It's always so much work but I love the challenge of trying to come up with things to do that don't cost ton of money but will still be memorable for them.
The agenda of the party was: (hey...my blog is my journal right?? I need to write this stuff down so I can look back and remember that I TRIED to be a pretty good mom)

1. Decorate sports door hangers with stickers and markers.
2. Play sports memory
3. Play musical chairs with Jock Jams music.
4. Stick the soccer player on the soccer ball
5. Cake and ice cream/presents
6. play kickball at the park

As you can see....Landon was really liking his baseball cupcake. Nate was a wonderful help. He was in charge of the memory game.

I can't imagine my life without my sweet Dallin. He is so sweet, sensitive and thoughtful. He is a little gentleman in every sense of the word. Every morning I wake up to his smiling face with a "Good morning Momma....how was your sleep?" He is very obedient and a wonderful big brother. He is a joy and I love him so much.

Dallin's favorites at 6:

favorite toys-rescue heros, spygear
favorite movies- Kung Fu Panda, Nemo, Incredibles favorite games-Memory, Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, Popping Frogs, I Spy favorite foods- tacos, french bread, pizza, hot dogs
favorite books- ANY book. He loves the We Both Read books.....level 2-3. Mom or Dad reads one page and then the child reads the next page.
joys- playing with friends, working on his zillions of work books, playing computer, riding his bike, going to school, swimming, playing sports, going golfing with dad.

Me...pretending to be a photographer

I tried to take some pictures of my boys while we were up at the cabin. Man I wish I had a nice camera! I would love to learn how to REALLY take pictures. (hint hint Nate....Christmas is just around the corner.)
Some of them turned out pretty cute.

And of course....gotta love the one of Nate goofing around with his "strike a pose" shot. I think he looks cute though. :) Of course I do.....he's my man!

Trip with friends

Our trip to Utah was so much fun. We headed down on Friday and spent the evening hanging out with Nate's family. We had a good dinner and played games. It is always so much fun getting together with everyone. Saturday I went to Ashley's (my best friend) baby shower. She is having her first baby (a girl) in just a couple of weeks. The little gift bags I made turned out pretty cute.
After the shower we headed over to Heritage Park where we met up with the Dallings. We had lots of fun riding horses and trains and learning a little about the pioneers. It was a beautiful day!
After the park we headed up the mountains to the cabin. We spent the next couple of days relaxing, riding the ATVs, playing horseshoes, having white trash campfires and staying up WAY too late! The last night we were there we all agreed that 11:00pm would be our curfew. Of course...we stayed up until 2:30 instead!! We just get too crazy when were together! Jen and I escaped for a few hours to go shopping at the outlets in Park City and then we met up with our families and rode the alpine slide. We also went on a little late night adventure where we almost hit a deer and saw Jacob (the warewolf) running beside our car....at least we thought it was. (for all your Twilight readers out there)
We are so lucky and blessed to have such great friends to make fun memories with! We wish the Perry's could have come too but they will just have to join us on our next adventure!

Carter James arrived on Sunday and he is PRECIOUS! After 24 hours of hard labor he finally arrived and everyone is doing well. I am absolutely DYING to hold him! Congrats Nat and Rob! We love you!

Dollar Movie

I love the dollar movies!!!

Why?
-My clean house stays clean for a whole 2 hours while we are gone.
-We spent $8.00 and that includes ticket, drinks and popcorn.
-If you go in the afternoon when most kids are in school and yours are off track you end up being the ONLY ones in the theatre!
-My one year old can run all over the theatre and scream and laugh and it isn't bothering a SOUL.
-It was actually a really cute show and I enjoyed watching it.
-Parker can scream...."Hey mom! My penis is a little itchy" and it isn't embarassing at all becuase once again....there is no one else in the theatre!
-Kids are happy and mom is happy!

Century Ride #2

Today we drove out to the middle of nowhere to watch Nate and his riding buddies finish another century (100 mile) bikeride. This one was out in Fruitland. I've never been to Fruitland or even heard of it before. Its a tiny little town about an hour outside of Boise.
Grandma EE is in town so she came with us to cheer him on. It was a lot of fun and Nate's team finished first! Yaaaahoooooo!!!

Here is a picture of the "biking widows" if you will. Our husbands go riding EVERY chance they can get! Luckily we are all good friends so we can all complain to each other! It was a fun day!

Bad night time line

9:30pm: Husband gets a phone call from work and is told he has to go in and do some last minute things for a trial he is working on.

9:45pm: I get a call from Nate saying he just hit a dog. The dog was wandering in the middle of the road walking toward the car. He can't stop because he HAS to get into the office ASAP. He's a little shaken up but I try to calm him down.

9:55pm: I am still on the phone with Nate while he is driving over to the office and someone almost runs him off the road because they don't see him in their blind spot.

12:05am:Nate is driving home on the connector and comes upon the scene of a deadly car accident that had just taken place about 1 minute before he got there. He is the 3rd person on the scene. A 43 year old woman was driving on the WRONG side of the freeway and was drunk. Nate sees another woman who was side swiped wandering around with blood all over the place. Luckily a doctor or nurse was the 2nd person on the scene and helped her. She should make a full recovery. The woman who caused the accident ended up passing away 2 hours later. Luckily the other man in the accident is supposed to be okay. Crazy stuff.

1:15am: Nate comes home...apparently tries to talk to me but all I say is, "O...ok honey." He ends up not sleeping because of the scenes flashing through his mind.

6:30am: He's off to trial.

Now is home early from work taking a looooong nap. What a scary and crazy night he had. I am SO thankful that he wasn't the one involved in that horrific accident. I am counting my blessings today for sure.

Agggghhh!

I'm anxious, nervous, and on edge. My sister is due with her baby boy any day now. What's wrong with me? I'm not the one having to go through with it. I think it must be a Rock family female trait. When I was being induced with Parker, I asked Joe Lee (Nate's law school friend) to take my mom to the hospital when it was time for me to have the baby and she puked ALL over his new car. Sorry about that again Joe!! When she got to the hospital she was light headed and throwing up even more...the Dr. asked her if she needed to be admitted! She was more stressed out about then birth then I was!
Luckily I am not throwing up but I guess I am just excited....my sister will finally enter the realm of motherhood and I can't WAIT!!

She looks dang good for being 9 months along!
