We don't go out on Valentine's Day. It's never worth it. Years ago we waited almost 2 hours to be seated at Outback...sat inches from couples on both sides of us and one of the men leaned over and asked Nate if he could have his roll. It was so LOUD we couldn't even have a conversation. ABSOLUTE STRIKE OUT.
We vowed that we wouldn't go out again...we'd stay in or go out the night or weekend before. It has worked well for years.
Well last night we were invited to celebrate my good friend Sharla (who just so happens to be due on the same day as me). It was her 30th birthday on Valentines day and her husband had planned a surprise dinner party for her over at the White Water Grill. (A very NICE/EXPENSIVE place for dinner.) We decided to support her and go against what we KNOW.
Here is the CLIFF NOTES version of our night:
5:00: Left the boys with a babysitter. Told the babysitter we'd be back in a couple of hours.
Seated at 5:15.
Surprised Sharla at 5:35.
Ordered our food 6:00.
Waited.
Introduced ourselves to all of the fellow party attendees.
Waited.
Waited.
7:30: Got our salad! Devoured it in 1.7 seconds because we were all STARVING. I was honestly ready to eat my own hand off I was so dang hungry.
Waited some more.
Waited.
Became WELL acquainted with Sharla's family as we had HOURS to get to know them.
Waited.
Waited.
Waited.
Everyone started laughing in a delirious state because we were all going stir crazy/nuts....inhaling the helium from the balloons, showing each other ridiculous dance moves, telling Sharla she would proably be spending her 31st birhtday at the Whitewater Grill since the service was so SLOW.
FINALLY got our freaking dinner at about 8:15pm. That is a 3 HOUR WAIT.
INHALED our dinner.
Asked for the bill.
Asked for the bill again.
DEMANDED the bill.
Server finally took our debit card.
He lost our debit card.
Found our card.
We paid the bill.
Left him a $2.00 tip on a $45.00 ticket.
Most of the people didn't even give a tip of any kind.
Everyone was seriously SO mad.
Got home at 9:00pm...2 hours later then we thought we would be.
NEVER going out for Valentines Dinner again. Never going to White Water Grill again.
Will also NEVER forget such a memorable and hilarious night. It's hard to believe that it was really as bad as it was. No apologies from the management, the waiter, absolutely NOTHING.
O well, more time spent with my favorite Valentine. ♥ I figured I'd better enjoy my LAST Valentine's with my man all to myself since next year he'll have another tiny little lady Valentine to share the day with. :)
